A PLANNING application has been submitted to convert a former village pub into apartments.
A bid to turn the former Queen’s Head pub, in Lanchester, into five apartments has been lodged with Durham County Council.
The 18th Century pub, a Grade II-listed building in Front Street, is now disused and has suffered a fire since it closed its doors to the public.
Leadgate-based Lanchester Investment Properties is now seeking planning permission and listed building consent to convert the property into five flats - two single bedroom flats and three two-bedroom apartments.
The application includes the demolition of a modern extension to the building. The existing 32-space car park would be replaced by eight parking spaces for use by residents and visitors and 12 spaces for local businesses and the general public.
