PEOPLE in Chester-le-Street are being invited to provide memories and memorabilia for an exhibition on the First World War.
RSVP North East plans to hold a pop up exhibition telling the story of the town’s contribution to the Great War to mark the conflict’s 100th anniversary.
The group, which has won funding for the project, is seeking people to donate material for the display and to volunteer to help organise the event and collect people’s stories.
A spokesman said: “We need any war time stories you have of your family members. We will photocopy any interesting artefacts you have relating to the Great War, any medals, postcards, uniforms etc.
“We also need volunteers to help record the stories and to create the pop up exhibition, which we will launch in Chester-le- Street at a central venue.
“We can also help people obtain their digital family medal cards as part of the project from the National Archives in Kew.”
Anyone interested should call Angela Foster or Ashleigh Gibson on 0191- 389 1155 or e-mail rsvpne@hotmail.com
