TRUE to the adage that the show must go on, an amateur theatre group is preparing to stage a pantomime, despite going through two princesses, two evil queens and three different mirrors.

MalDo Productions will be presenting Snow White at Dawdon Miners Welfare Hall, Mount Stewart Street, Seaham, County Durham, at the weekend.

Madlo publicity officer Sarah Taylor said: “We've had a lot of obstacles to overcome during the rehearsal period.

“We’ve had two different princes, two different evil queens and three different mirrors. Some had to pull out due to personal commitments.

“We were also a dwarf down for some time, but are now looking forward to the future and this wonderful show.”

She added: “The show, written and directed by Richenda Blakelock, has panto elements, but with the amount of songs we're putting in, it's more of a panto/musical hybrid. We want to show the people of the North-East what we can do.”

Snow White is MalDo's 11th show.

Ms Taylor said: “The society's success is all down to the hard work of the cast and committee, and I only hope the community support them by coming to see us.

“We have a lot of young talent within the group and they deserve a full house to bring down.

“We've purposefully kept ticket prices low, because we want to appeal to the community spirit, and want everyone to back us."

The show will be staged at 2pm and 6.30pm on Saturday (March 1) and at 2pm on Sunday (March 2). Tickets are £4 for adults and £3 for children under 12.
