A CHURCH was bouncing to the sounds of Abba to raise money for African orphans.
Elvet Methodist Church hosted a singalong screening of Mamma Mia to raise money for the Kwagala Trust, which supports orphaned and abandoned children in Uganda.
About 350 people attended the fundraiser, held at the Durham City church on Saturday, February 1, including many who donned Abba-style fancy dress, and more than £2,600 was raised.
The church hopes to raise £20,000 to build a new road to a trust-owned smallholding on the outskirts of Kampala and pay for education and health care.
One of the project’s supporters is Keith Johnson, chairman of JW Wood estate agents, who visited Uganda in 2012.
