A GUIDED riverside walk has proven so popular that a second event has been organised.

Two walks through the historic woodlands and riverbanks near Durham Cathedral will now take place on Saturday, February 22, one at 10am and a second at 10.30am.

Gina Davies, from the Woodlands and Riverbanks team at Durham Cathedral, said: "One of our aims while working on this project is to not only improve the area in an ecological sense, but also to encourage local people and visitors alike to use the woodlands and riverbanks area for leisure.

"It’s great news therefore that we have had to double the capacity on the walk due to demand and we hope many more people will sign up to enjoy the history walk and make the most of the chance to learn more about this wonderfully peaceful and tranquil spot around our wonderful Cathedral."

Walkers should meet at the medieval arch at the entrance to the College at the back of the Cathedral and lasts for approximately 90 minutes.

The walk costs £1 but is not suitable for very small children. Due to popular demand, places should be reserved in advance via events@durhamcathedral.co.uk.
