A FATHER and daughter have tasted success at a national martial art contest.
Andrew Perez, 34, and daughter Grace, nine, both competed in a national taekwondo competition in Nottingham.
Mr Perez took silver in a minus 80 category, while Grace won bronze in a minus 30 contest.
He said: “We fought well. We didn’t win gold but we’re working towards the national championships.”
That will be held in Manchester in September.
Mr Perez, of Penshaw, Wearside, runs Chi Taekwondo Carrville, which meets in Carrville Methodist Church, High Street, Carrville, Durham, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
New members of all ages and abilities are welcome.
