A CITY pub group has named its chosen charity for the year.
The Durham-based Angel group will be raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (Cry).
Andy Hughes, manager of the Angel group’s three pubs – the Angel, the John Duck and the Elm Tree, said: “One of the Cry fundraisers is a regular in the Angel Inn Pub in Durham and asked if we would put a tin on the counter.
“It just so happens that we were debating about who we would have as the 2014 nominated charity.”
A sponsored walk from Durham to Newcastle has already been staged and further events are planned.
Cry aims to reduce sudden cardiac death among the young by screening and education.
