FREEMASONS have donated £1,000 to a Durham-based veterans’ charity.
Durham Freemasons handed the cash to the County Durham branch of the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Family Association (Ssafa).
The money will be used to help veterans at the Personnel Recovery Unit at Catterick, North Yorkshire.
Mike Donne, Ssafa’s branch secretary, said: “As a Freemason as well as an active member of Ssafa, I am aware of the charitable side of Freemasonry and to be able to assist those who are serving their country in a time of need by this initiative is very pleasing.”
