TWO charities are to benefit from the opening of a new supermarket.
The new Tesco Express store in Hetton-le-Hole will open its doors on February 11, with the ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by representatives of Hetton Town Trust and the Durham Miners Association Brass Band.
Both the trust and band will receive a £250 donation handed over by store manager Nicola Tempest.
She said: "We are delighted to be able to support Hetton Town Trust and the Durham Miners Association Brass Band, as they do such wonderful work for the local community."
The Houghton Road store will open to customers at 8am, with the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10.30am.
