MEMORIES of a village at the time of the Coronation are to go on display this weekend.
An exhibition of pictures showing the past and present of Medomsley, near Consett, is to take place on Saturday (June 8) to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the Coronation of The Queen.
The event will take place in the hall of the village school between 10.30am and noon.
Visitors will be able to see pictures of the village from 1953 as well as more up-to-date images from Medomsley’s celebrations of the Olympic torch relay and the Diamond Jubilee.
The village’s recently-repaired miners’ banner will be on show, along with plans for Medomsley’s entry in the Northumbria In Bloom competition.
The annual scarecrow competition, this year on a theme of kings and queens, will be judged at 11am while children are encouraged to come in royal-themes fancy dress.
