TRAVEL AWARD: The Italian Farmhouse restaurant, in West Rainton, County Durham, has received a Certificate of Excellence award from Trip Advisor. The award recognises excellence in hospitality. Owner Mark Hird said he was pleased at the prize.
BBQ BEST: Coates Butchers, of Coxhoe, County Durham, was a runner-up in the burger class of the regional finals of the Q Guild national BBQ competition, for its beef, steak and onion burger. The butchers also picked up honours for its Jamaican jerk sausage.
NEWS NETWORKING: Co-operatives UK and the Carnegie UK Trust are hosting a series of events across the country to showcase the work of local media and explore co-operative and community ownership models.
