CARE home residents were serenaded by a women’s choir in an afternoon of musical entertainment.
The Friends of the Church Choir, comprising singers from a mix of local churches, visited residents at Ashwood Park, Peterlee, to sing a number of classics from the 20th Century, including hits by Aretha Franklin and The Beatles.
Later, residents and the choir joined together for a good old-fashioned sing-along, choosing their favourites from the day.
The choir’s visit is the start of an range of activities planned for care home residents, including musical bingo, a trip to the pub, a cheese and wine afternoon and a coffee morning.
Ashwood Park is part of European Care Group, providing tailored care and support for older people.
Manager Margaret Moss said: “The residents love music and a good sing-along, so for us to have the choir was fantastic.
“We’re all very excited about this month’s activities, and to have beautiful music ringing out through Ashwood Park was a great start.”
