Home Group Developments are asking Durham County Council for planning permission to demolish the former Fencehouses Fire Station at Woodstone Village, near Chester-le-Street, and build 18, two and three-bed, affordable homes on the site.
PUB GIG: Rock band The Machine will play the Market Tavern, South Burns, Chester-le-Street, on Friday (May 24) at 9pm. Entry is free.

BIGGER HOSTELRY: Durham County Council is being asked to approve plans for a conservatory side extension and a first-floor extension above the kitchen to provide four en-suite bedrooms at the recently-reopened Lambton Worm pub in North Road, Chester-le-Street.
ANNUAL MEETING: The Annual meeting of the Chester-l;e-Street Community Association is on Tuesday June 11 at 7.30pm in the community centre on Newcastle Bank. Agenda items should be submitted by Tuesday (May 29).
