A SAILING club is offering visitors the chance to try the sport for free at its annual open day.
Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club will open its gates to the public on Saturday, June 1 between 11am and 4pm.
Weather permitting, visitors will be able to go out for a sail in one of the club’s modern boats under the supervision of an experienced sailor.
The club, based on the north shore of the reservoir about four miles east of Blanchland, will provide wetsuits, boots and buoyancy aids.
Visitors should bring swimwear to go underneath and a pair of old trainers in case of a shortage of boots.
On May 29 and 30, the club will also hold junior windsurfing taster days. Admission is £35 and all kit and clothing will be provided.
