VENERABLE BEDE: Visitors can learn about the Venerable Bede at a public lecture by Colm O’Brien, senior lecturer at Sunderland University’s North East Centre for Lifelong Learning, at the university’s Sir Tom Cowie campus, in Sunderland, on Wednesday (May 22) at 2.30pm. Entry is free and open to all.
NEW DATE: Finchale College’s charity golf tournament was cancelled today (Wednesday, May 15) due to heavy rain. It has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 11, at Beamish Park golf club, near Stanley, County Durham. Entry costs £200 per team including a light breakfast, 18 holes of golf and a two-course lunch. To sign up, call 0191-386-2634. The Durham college provides vocational training for disabled adults.
ALBUM LAUNCH: DJ Preqwal(CORR) will launch his new album, titled 1985, and live show at Empty Shop, in Durham City, on Friday (May 17). He will give a DJ set, with visuals by artist Morning Skyrail. Entry is free. The following night, Empty Shop will host a Eurovision party from 7pm. Entry, again, is free.
