MEMBERS of an all-female fitness club are doing a 24-hour exercise bike marathon.
Ladies at Leisure Gymnasium in Front Street, Chester-le-Street, which is run by former soldier Glenn Hill is holding the event from 9am tomorrow (Saturday May 11) to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Three teams of four will pedal away and Mr Hill, 38, who spent more than 20 years in the Army Will be taking part as one of the women due to do the effort had to drop out.
Mr Hill said: “A member's daughter died of cancer a while back, and we have a few members who have been linked to cancer, so we thought we’d do something for Cancer Research UK.
“We haven’t got a target, we just want to raise as much as we can. We have an online Just Giving page where people can sponsor us.’’
Mr Hill, who served in the Royal Engineers, ploughed his redundancy money into the business and hopes to tackle the region’s poor level of fitness.
