A VILLAGE table tennis club is celebrating a second successive promotion.

Ouston B Team gained promotion to Division 2 of the Northumbria Leagues by finishing the season as runners up to Division 3 championsLumley Old England Crocks.

Team captain Mark Rodgers said: “This is the second year in succession that we have achieved promotion and it is credit to the team of Neil Rodgers (my Dad), Mike Lyons and the rest of the squad that we now can ply our trade in the second division.

“We know it is going to be tough but are looking forward to the challenge”

Ouston Table Tennis Club, which was established in 1971 and is based in Ouston Community Centre, Iris Crescent, Ouston, has three teams in the Northumbria League.

Members range from teenagers to players in their 70s and are of varying playing standard Practice sessions and home team games are held on a Monday evening between 7 and 10pm.
