A FAMILY-run market stall is celebrating 35 years in business.

The Baby Stall, in Durham Indoor Market, was launched in 1978 by John and Beryl Henderson, of Woodham.

The stall, which mainly sells baby clothes, is now run by Elaine Henderson, of Chilton, their daughter-in-law.

She said: “We’ve seen several generations of families coming to us and we regularly serve customers who clothed their babies from The Baby Stall many years ago who are now bringing their daughters in when they are expecting.”

Mrs Henderson Senior handed over the business nine years ago but still helps out at the stall each Saturday.

Colin Wilkes, managing director of Durham Markets, said: “It’s fantastic how the independent traders in the Market Hall continue to create business with such longevity – 35 years in business is a fantastic success story.”
