TWO men, aged 32 and 30, have been arrested after a man was assaulted in Sunderland. A 27-year-old man was left with a puncture wound to his lower back after he was assaulted at a house at Maypole Close shortly before 7pm on Sunday (March 24). The men were arrested on suspicion of wounding and bailed pending further enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to call Northumbria Police on 101.

BOGUS OFFICERS: Three men, two aged 24 and one aged 22, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and impersonating a police officer. The arrests follow an incident at Windy Nook, in Gateshead, last July. Police were told two men had called at a house claiming to have a warrant to search it. Later the same month, police were told two men arrived at a property in Walkerdene, Newcastle, and told the occupant the wished to search it for stolen property. The men have been released on bail.
