OPEN CHURCH: The Old Church, on Front Street, Sacriston, will be open to visitors on Monday, April 1, from 2pm to 7pm. Refreshments will be available and there will be entertainment. All are welcome.

ELVET DATES: Elvet Methodist Church, on Old Elvet, Durham, will be open to visitors and passers-by from Monday, March 25, to Thursday, March 28, from 11am to 3pm for a time of reflection or to look round. All are welcome.

DAFFODIL SUNDAY: Sherburn Hospital, near Durham, will host a Daffodil Sunday event on Sunday (March 24) from 2pm to 4pm. There will be cream teas and various stalls. A church service will be held at 2.30pm. All donations will go to the residents’ welfare fund.

FAIRTRADE CASH: Pupils at St Leonard’s RC School, in Durham, has raised £633.71 for Cafod, the Catholic aid agency, by selling Fairtrade recipe book.

CHARITY EVENT: SG Petch Belmont garage, in Belmont, Durham, has raised £173 for the Butterwick Hospice, in Bishop Auckland, by holding a sponsored fancy dress event.
