POLICE are appealing for information after a caravan and a car were targeted by arsonists in Wingate, near Peterlee, at the weekend.
The emergency services were called to Vicarage Estate shortly after 9.30pm on Saturday, December 8.
The caravan, parked on the drive outside the owner's home had been set alight and destroyed, and an attempt had also been made to set fire to their Vauxhall Corsa parked nearby.
Police yesterday (Sunday, December 9) arrested two local teenagers, aged 15 and 17 on suspicion of arson.
They have been interviewed and released on police bail until the end of January.
Officers are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to contact the police on 101 and ask for the serious crime team at Peterlee police station.
