CADETS PACKING: Durham Army Cadets will be bag packing at Sainsbury’s store, at the Arnison Centre, Pity Me, Durham, this weekend (November 3 and 4). Cadets from Chester-le-Street Drill Hall will be in store packing on both Saturday and Sunday, as well as on Saturday November 10, all from 9am - 5pm. Half the proceeds will go to the cadets with the other half to be donated to the Royal British Legion (RBL) poppy appeal. Poppies also will be available in the store, sold on behalf of the RBL.
MERRYOAKS WRITERS: An anthology of poems and a collection of short stories by a group known as The Merryoaks Writers, will be launched at Durham’s Gala Theatre, on Thursday November 22, from 7.30 - 9.30pm. The publication is backed by Horrible Histories author Terry Deary and North-East agony aunt Denise Robertson. All proceeds will go to St Cuthbert’s Hospice, which is located in Merryoaks, Durham.
