POLICE investigating a firework attack on a Darlington mosque are trying to establish where they might have been bought.
An image of the firework pushed through the letterbox of the Jamia Mosque, in North Lodge Terrace, in Darlington, has been released in the hope that someone might recognise it.
The mosque sustained minor damage in the incident, at about 10.05pm on Friday, but police are taking the incident seriously and say they cannot rule out a racial or religious motive.
Anyone with information about the incident, or who might know where the firework was sold, is asked to call Darlington Police on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
