A CARE manager from Darlington has been shortlisted for a regional award.

Judith Ayre, who works for Home Instead Senior Care, based at Lingfield Point, is a finalist in the Great North-East Care Awards, part of the Great British Care Awards.

Held every year, the awards recognise excellence among care industry professionals.

Home Instead Senior Care helps elderly people to remain in their own homes.

Mrs Ayre was nominated in the home care registered manager category.

She was shortlisted for her leadership skills and developing a team of carers.

Home Instead owner Diane Chandler said: “We are absolutely delighted that the Great British Care Awards have been so impressed with Judith, just as we are.

“When I first met Judith, it was her calm and caring manner that made me want to offer her a job immediately.

“She goes above and beyond caring for others. She actively cares for clients and supports and trains our caregivers to provide only the best of care.

“This is a great honour and we are immensely proud of Judith and wish her the very best of luck and whatever happens, to us she is the best care manager in the North-East.”

Mrs Ayre, who is spending today (October 22) being judged for the awards, will find out if she has won in an awards ceremony on Saturday, November 24, at the Hilton hotel, in Newcastle.

Home Instead began trading in June, offering home care to clients in Darlington in the surrounding area, with the aim of helping elderly people stay in their homes for as long as possible.
