CHILDREN have been proving they’ve got talent in their own new amphitheatre.
The pupils of St Bede’s RC Primary School, in Darlington, came back from the summer holidays to find an outdoor amphitheatre in their playground.
It was built by staff from Northumbria Water and their building partners JN Bentley as part of a community scheme called Just an Hour.
The idea is for Northumbria Water staff to give about an hour of their time for a good community cause and they gave their time over two days to build the structure.
Headteacher, Francis Shorten, explained Friends of St Bede’s School had asked all the children what improvements they would like to see in their school and the youngsters themselves came up with an idea for an amphitheatre.
Mrs Shorten released a statement prepared by Aaron, Sara, Regan and Oliver who are on the school council and who thanked Northumbria Water. It said: “We will use the amphitheatre for watching shows.
"It helps to entertain us at break time. It is good for St Bede’s Got Talent which the children love to watch and perform in.”
