A TEAM of experts will visit Darlington next week to give people advice and information about the winter flu jab.
The NHS Flu Safe Squad will visit Asda, in Whinbush Way, on Wednesday (October 24), between 10am and 2pm, as part of the Flu Safe campaign to remind people at risk of the importance of getting the flu jab.
Those who are most at risk from flu include pregnant women and their unborn babies, children and adults with long term health problems, anyone over 65 and carers of those in at risk groups.
The flu vaccine is available from GP surgeries and is free on the NHS to eligible people to keep them safe during winter.
Dr Tricia Cresswell, deputy medical director at NHS North East said: “Flu is not just a cold – it can be a really serious illness for some people and it doesn’t just affect older people.
“The flu jab is safe, and it can’t give you flu. It is particularly important that children with serious underlying conditions get the flu jab as they are at higher risk complications with flu.”
