A MAN and a woman have been arrested after a member of the public tipped off police about cannabis being grown in a house.

Officers found 12 cannabis plants in a house on Carnaby Road, in Darlington, over the weekend and arrested the occupants on suspicion of production of cannabis.

The tip off came from a member of the public who alerted police through the independent charity Crimestoppers.

Police previously urged Darlington residents to alert them to suspicious activities after three large cannabis farms were uncovered in the town earlier this year as a result of reports from the public.

Anyone with any information can contact Darlington Police in confidence on the non-emergency number 101.
