TWO acclaimed northern authors will visit Darlington library as part of the Read Regional scheme supporting regional writers.
Northumberland author Mari Hannah will be at the Crown Street Library at 10am on October 2 to talk about her latest crime thriller The Murder Wall and the following month Hull writer Russ Litten will visit on November 20 at 1.30pm.
The Read Regional campaign, which has run in the North East since 2008, promotes new books by northern authors through libraries, bookshops and festivals across the north from October through to spring.
Run in partnership with 23 library authorities across the North East, Yorkshire and Humberside, the campaign ensures the stocking of 3,000 new books in libraries by regional authors and supports their visits to reading groups, bookshops and libraries.
Councillor Nick Wallis of Darlington Council said: “This is a brilliant way for local people to meet up with nationally acclaimed authors and gain an insight in to their work; it may even inspire one or two to become an author.
“It also gives authors from across the region the chance to meet their own readers and also raise their profile in their local area.”
Entry to the author days are free but places must be booked.
