THE virtues of volunteering will be explored in an event to celebrate UK Older People’s Day on October 4.
The Full of Life Darlington event will take place across various town centre venues, including the Market Square and eVOLution on Church Row.
It will be launched at 10am by the Mayor, Councillor Paul Baldwin, and three local volunteers and will see various displays in the Market Square until 2pm including dancing, bowling, hand bell ringing, and a brass band.
Age UK and St Cuthbert’s Church Hall will also be involved and would-be volunteers can take a tour of local voluntary organisations for a ‘behind the scenes’ peek at their work, starting every half hour throughout the event.
Mayor Baldwin said: “This event will give people the chance to find out more about the opportunities in the town to volunteer as well as meet lots of people who already give their time for many local worthy causes.
“I hope that as many people as possible take the time to come along and find out more and give their thanks to these people and hopefully join them in making Darlington a better place to live for everyone.”
