A MOTHER suffering from liver failure was punched and kicked by her own son, a court heard yesterday.
Daniel Alderson, 18, of Ruskin Road, Darlington, admitted assault by beating when he appeared before the town’s magistrates.
He also admitted that the offence put him in breach of a nine-month conditional discharge imposed in July.
The court heard that Alderson assaulted his 46-year-old mother at her home on August 28, when the pair still lived together.
Prosecuting, Blair Martin said: “They argued, he has punched his mum’s arm, twisted it and followed her into another room when she tried to get away, pulled her hair and her arm and said, ‘I won’t stop until you’re six feet under’.”
Mr Martin said that Alderson then handed himself into police.
He added: “His mother said she has been in poor health recently and has been diagnosed with liver failure. She doesn’t want Daniel to be convicted and for this to ruin his future.”
The case was adjourned until October 2 for a report to be prepared. Alderson was released on bail with the conditions that he does not communicate with his mother or enter the street where she lives.
