MEMBERS of Darlington Flower Club enjoyed a ‘Quintessentially English’ demontration at their most recent meeting.
Area demonstator Sue Spencer spoke to members, at last week’s meeting, at St Cuthbert’s Church Centre.
Mrs Spencer, from Sheffield, entertained the audience with her arrangements made up of mostly Enflish flowers, as well as amusing stories about ‘senior moments’ and downsizing her family home.
Doreen Howson, from the flower club, said: “It was a guessing game for everyone as she started each arrangement with the question of what do you think this represents.
“Her arrangements included ‘Beecher’s Brook’ for the Grand National, an arrangement using red roses and the goal posts remembering a rugby match she attended in Paris, when England won against France.
“Also included was a ‘Last night at the Proms’ display, with red, white and blue flowers and Union Jack.”
The next meeting of the club will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, October 3, at St Cuthbert’s Church Centre, when Pamela Lewis will give a demonstration entitled ‘Chasing Rainbows’.
Details of this meeting and the club in general are available from the chairman on 01740-620795.
