A CHURCH holds a 15-minute carol service as part of a world record attempt.
Pierremont Church, in Darlington, is joining Premier Christian Radio's attempt to set a new record for the largest number of people singing carols together across multiple locations.
The bid - to recruit more than 15,000 people to join in for 15 minutes of carolling - is part of the Christmas Starts with Christ campaign.
The Reverend Helena Harbottle said: "It occurred to me that people who might not bother coming to an ordinary carol service might come along if the event was part of a world record attempt.
"It is a good way to draw the community together to sing carols that most people know and share in the true meaning of Christmas in a relaxed way, at the same time give everyone a sense of achievement."
The record attempt is on Sunday, December 18, at 7pm.
Christmas nibbles and drinks will be served at 6.15pm. Call 01325-485342 for more details.
