HIGH winds have forced a four-day market event in Darlington to be cancelled.
The Christmas Spectacular Event in Darlington town centre which features market stalls, entertainment, and mulled wine and roasted chestnuts, was planned to take place from today (Thursday December 8) to Sunday (December 11).
However, concerns over safety because of forecasts of extremely high winds have led to the event being cancelled.
Festive entertainment including brass bands, a recital by soprano opera singer Rebecca Newman and a free prize draw to win a food hamper for four, will now take place in the Covered Market.
There will also be children’s fairground rides at Joseph Pease Place.
The Christingle Markets planned for Thursday, December 15 and 22 (noon to 8pm) will go ahead as planned.
