Darlington plan more talks with some of their higher earners this week with the aim being to resolve the wage reductions that chairman Raj Singh wishes to implement.
Many of the squad have accepted proposals of between ten and 25 per cent cuts in salaries, but a minority have yet to reach an agreement.
The situation has been ongoing for a month and captain Ian Miller, who played in Saturday's 2-0 win over Tamworth, admits the off-field situation has made for an uncertain period.
Miller was also with the club during the upheaval administration caused in 2009, and he said: "I've been as worried as everyone else. It's not nice in any walk of life if you're getting told that you've got to take a pay cut, but I've been here before and I'm more prepared for it.
"If I had a company that I was throwing a lot of money into and wasn't getting what I expect back, then I would be annoyed as well."
Speaking in Saturday's match programe, Singh hit out at what he called those who are "here for a pay-day".
He said: "We've made a lot of progress with the majority of the players who, by and large, have showed a positive attitude towards what we need to do.
"The cuts in wages have varied between ten and 25 per cent - not anywhere near as much as the 50 per cent I've seen quoted - and a lot accepted their new terms.
"In fact, some have been extremely helpful. There are others, however, who I already knew were only here for a pay-day, who haven't budged or even attempted to negotiate. But hopefully the situation will become a lot clearer in the next week or so."
Meanwhile, Singh says he expects to go to court with former manager Mark Cooper as negotiations over a settlement have reached stalemate.
Cooper has turned down a £15,000 offer, less then half what he would have received had he remained in employment until his contract was due to expire at the end of the season.
Singh told The Non-League Paper: "We're still miles apart and I can't see an outcome any time soon. My issue is that this must be the only job in the world where you look forward to the sack.
"What if Mark goes and gets a new job somewhere within two weeks? He's got that money and my money on top, it's a crazy world."
* Darlington's youth team lost 2-1 to Hartlepool United in the Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday morning, Scott Mould getting Quakers' goal. Scorers for Pools were Lewis Hawkins and Brad Walker.
