John Campbell has become the latest player to leave Darlington since the club's cost-cutting measures were announced.
The Newcastle-born striker has joined Bedlington Terriers in the Northern League and hopes to make his debut in this evening's game at Crook Town.
He follows Ben Purkiss and Michael Brough out of The Northern Echo Arena as the former has returned to Oxford United while the latter joined Guiseley last week.
Campbell played in Quakers' most recent three matches after caretaker manager Craig Liddle handed him a recall.
Former boss Mark Cooper had dropped Campbell in the final weeks of his reign, but he has now returned to the Northern League.
Darlington signed him in January when he left Newcastle Benfield, for whom he had scored 25 goals in half a season.
The 22-year-old netted only once in his 14 appearances this term, only six of which were starts, in a 3-1 home win over Lincoln City.
He was often used as a substitute, but among his appearances was the FA Trophy final at Wembley in May.
His exit means only eight of the 16 players on duty that day remain with the club, but more are expected to leave as chairman Raj Singh's attempts to reduce costs continue.
With promotion unlikely and attendances averaging around 1,900, the 11th highest in the division, Singh's aim is to significantly reduce costs so that they are more in line with most Conference clubs.
Singh wishes to avoid administration, a measure that would see Darlington immediately docked ten points by the Conference.
The club would then have until the Conference annual general meeting in June 2012 to exit administration or they would be demoted one division.
Singh has told players they can leave if they do not accept reduced wages, and some of the squad are attracting interest.
Players held meetings with the club yesterday and most are considering their options.
Darlington do not have a game this weekend, after being knocked out of the FA Cup, and their line-up when they are next in action, at Ebbsfleet on November 19, is likely to be much changed from the XI which beat AFC Telford on Saturday.
Brough was Cooper's first signing in the summer of 2010, but during his first pre-season friendly he sustained a serious knee injury that he was unable to fully recover from.
He did make six appearances this season, for from the bench, after Cooper handed him a short-term deal in September.
But Liddle explained: "His contract was up and he can't do the full-time training, he'd admit that, so we thought it better to seek a career elsewhere and to seek a career part-time."
Purkiss has gone back to Oxford as his loan has now expired.
One player has returned to Darlington, though, Adam Quinn as the centre-back's three-month loan with Barrow has reached its conclusion.
