ONE school dominated an annual cross country event, taking home four team and three individual titles from the six races.
Each Abbey School victory was cheered by the rest of the team at Darlington's Primary Schools Cross Country event on Saturday at the Darlington School of Mathematics and Science, formerly Branksome School.
Abbey won the girls' and boys' titles at both the year three/four and year five levels, with Polam Hall winning the year six girls' section and Whinfield the top boys' team in year six.
Abbey's winning pupils were Sam Graham in the year three/four boys' race, year five girl Catherine Roberts and Max Harris, from the year six boys' race.
The remaining gold medals went to Megan Noble, from Holy Family, in the year three/four girls' race, year five boy Stefan Hornsby from West Park, and year six Polam girl Stella Jones.
Sarah Murray, PE teacher from Abbey, said: "We have been out practising quite a lot since September doing a few runs every week. We hoped practice would pay off and it has done. I'm really proud of them; they have made a really great effort."
More than 400 runners took part in the event from schools across the borough.
It was organised by Darlington Quakers Running Club and Darlington Schools' Games Team, with trophies provided by Darlington Round Table.
