DOZENS of firework-related incidents of anti-social behaviour have been reported on an estate in the run up to bonfire night.
Last month, beat teams in Eastbourne, Darlington, dealt with 26 incidents of anti-social behaviour and three offences of criminal damage all because of of fireworks.
Police Community Support Officer Danny Metcalfe said at a Police and Communities Together meeting for the Eastbourne ward that the incidents related to Mischief Night - traditionally, a night where teenagers carry out pranks, often the night before Halloween or bonfire night.
He said two letterboxes had been damaged by youngsters trying to push fireworks through and a fridge smashed at a shop in Burnside Road.
Additionally, the 26 incidents of anti-social behaviour were from a total of 37 reported on the estate throughout the past four weeks. They included throwing fireworks in the street, at each other, at houses or at shops.
