A GOLF club is expected to be granted approval for a new access road.
Darlington Borough Council's cabinet group will tonight debate proposals to allow Darlington Golf Club to use authority-owned land for its new driveway.
Existing access for the golf club is through Green Lane, which is said to be narrow and in poor condition but for whom the land owner cannot be found.
As a result, the club wants to build an access in Sparrow Hall Drive that would also serve Elm Tree House farm.
Outline planning permission was granted for the scheme to close off Green Lane and use the new access earlier this year despite opposition from residents.
Final approval for the use of the alternative arrangement must be agreed by the cabinet group.
A report, drafted by director of resources Paul Wildsmith, recommended that councillors approve the request to give "better access" to the golf club, but also to allow the council to control future development of Elm Tree House farm.
The meeting takes place at 5pm in the Teesside University campus, in Haughton Road.
