A SERIES of activities are taking place this half-term week at Darlington Arts Centre.

The events began at the weekend with Darlington Borough Council’s Arts Team holding a Big Draw Family Fun Day.

Every morning this week there is also free morning storytelling sessions in the Myles Meehan Gallery from 9.30am to 10am.

These are followed in the morning by a variety of artist-led workshops for children aged between four and 11.

The workshops will include drawing techniques, drawing for comics, and drawing for children’s books.

Afternoon sessions for secondary school age children include design for town planning and design for advertising.

All of the workshops will be led by industry professionals and the sessions for college and secondary-age students are specifically designed to give an insight into how drawing is used professionally.

Many of the workshops are inspired by the current exhibition at the Arts Centre, Images 35: Best of British Illustration by the Association of Illustrators.

The cost of the workshops range from £2 to £4. For more information on the workshops contact 01325-348844 or email Kate.gascoigne@darlington.gov.uk. To book, contact the box office on 01325-486555.
