PLANS to commemorate a community stalwart have been discussed by a parish council.
Middleton St George Parish Council has agreed to spend £500 on a memorial bench in memory of Margaret Clemence, the warden of Dinsdale Court.
Mrs Clemence died suddenly in July at the age of 63 after a battle with lung cancer.
The bench would be placed in the garden of the sheltered housing complex in the village.
Councillor Steve York said: “We’ve got to do it. She was a part of the village and very well respected.”
The council unanimously agreed to purchase the bench.
It was reported that work to restore benches at The Front on Middleton One Row was progressing well and three had already been completed.
