TRADES COUNCIL: The next meeting of Darlington Trades Union Council will be held on Thursday at 7.30pm in the bar of the Pennyweight in Darlington market place.

CHARITY COLLECTION: The Darlington and District Talking Newspaper Association for the Blind wish to thank all those who generously donated on Saturday, July 2, at its Town Collection Day. The sum collected amounted to £593.63. The mayor of Darlington Lee Vasey also assisted in the collection.

SPONSORED WALK: Walkers from Darlington cricket club, Derek Coates, Wendy Duncan, Craig Hardy and Alan Scotter raised approximately £800 towards updating machinery, umpires fees and coaching equipment by taking part in a sponsored walk. The foursome carried the match ball the 16.1miles to Barnard Castle for the NYSD league match against Darlington. Club members and friends sponsored the walkers and each had a guess at the time taken to do the walk which lasted 4h50m2s.

PARISH MEETING: Middleton St George Parish Council is holding its monthly meeting at 6.30pm in the parish meeting room at the village Water Park on Monday, July 11.
