CHILDREN had a magical time as the centrepiece of their village's annual festival.
Sadberge Summer festival took place on Saturday at a number of venues around the village.
One of the main attractions of the event - on the theme of Disney film Fantasia - was a parade of children in fancy dress.
They dressed up in costumes based on the animated classic. Many had spent several weeks making their fancy dress, with prizes handed out to the best by The Northern Echo's editor Peter Barron, who opened the festival.
Charley Heseltine won the under-fives category after entering as a snowflake fairy.
She said: "It was lots of fun.
I enjoyed being in the parade."
The annual event was based around the village green, with other events in the village hall, St Andrew's Church and the two pubs.
There were traditional games, including a coconut shy and hoopla, as well as modern ones such as a bungee run, basketball and a football penalty shoot-out.
There was also a bouncy castle, tombola and a number of stalls.
Entertainment was provided by Locos in Motion morris dancers, and North Tyneside Steel Band.
Opening the event, Mr Barron said: "What strikes me is how much effort and hard work goes into pulling together events like today's."
Event organiser Millie Scaife said: "The sun has been shining, so that's fantastic.
People are enjoying the music and the fancy dress, so I'm really pleased."
Money raised will go towards village causes, including the church and village hall.
