A WALT Disney cartoon will provide the inspiration for a fancy dress competition at a village festival.

The annual Sadberge Summer Festival will take place at venues around the village on Saturday throughout the day.

This year's theme will be Fantasia, a Forties animated film featuring Mickey Mouse.

A children's fancy dress competition will lead the afternoon attractions on the green at 1pm.

Other entertainment will be provided by North Tyneside Steel band, Heritage Dancers and Morris dancing teams.

There will be displays by Segway Solutions and children's petting farm the Farmyard Flyer.

There will also be Morris dancing workshops, a lucky dip stall, a bouncy castle, mini-assault course, inter-pub bungee run challenge, basketball, football, stalls, games and items for sale.

St Andrew's Church will present an exhibition of bibles, presented with favourite texts and histories in celebration of 400 years of the King James Bible. Peter Barron, editor of The Northern Echo, will open the festival.

The event starts at 10am and continues until 4pm across the village, principally in the village hall and on the village green.

Entry is free, as is parking, which will be on Town Farm field.
