VISITORS to this weekend's Darlington Community Carnival will be encouraged to go green by reducing, reusing and recycling their waste.
For the fourth year running, Darlington Borough Council's Making Waste Work campaign is sponsoring the carnival, along with the Co-op Membership.
Members of the council's Recycling and Street Scene teams will be at the carnival, on Saturday, to hand out advice about how visitors can recycle more and reduce the amount of waste they create.
Other environmental groups, including Friends of the Earth and the King's Church Furniture Recycling Scheme, will also be on hand.
The theme of this year's carnival is It's a Good Life.
Visitors will be encouraged to make life better for everyone by going green.
The carnival parade leaves Stanhope Park at noon.
Community groups from across Darlington, who have been working with local artists to make sure the event is a riot of colour and creativity, will take part.
There will be free family entertainment and activities in Stanhope Park, from 11am until 5pm.
Councillor Chris McEwan, cabinet member for economy and regeneration, said: "The Community Carnival is a great family event and a good opportunity to promote the message that we can all make small changes to our lives to make big differences to the environment.
"I hope people will be inspired to be greener by what they see at the carnival."
