Darlington mayor Lee Vasey will judge 25 students' work today for the publicity campaign for an annual ball.
Councillor Vasey invited Darlington College's art and design students to come up with a poster for her charity ball on the theme of cops and robbers.
Twenty-five students have made designs for the event, which takes place on October 21, in the Dolphin Centre.
Coun Vasey said: "Choosing a winner is a difficult task as the standard of work is always so high - the students dedicate a lot of time to the project and we are very proud to work with them."
Tickets for the ball will be available from next month.
