AN animal sanctuary has introduced late-night opening in an effort to rehome more dogs.
Dogs Trust Darlington will open until 8pm every Thursday between spring and September after pilots in two rehoming centres saw an extra dog per week rehomed as a result.
Clare Hopps, Dogs Trust Darlington supporter relations officer, said some dogs were more lively in the evening.
"We have Pixie, an 18-month Chihuahua cross, who, despite being born blind, has a sweet nature and copes well with her disability. She is a sociable, affectionate pooch and we hope late-night opening will give her a chance to shine."
Anyone interested can visit the centre at Hill House Farm, Sadberge, near Darlington, or call 01325-333114.
