NEW Darlington Mayor Lee Vasey wasted no time before getting into the swing in her first day in the role.
Councillor Vasey was at Stressholme Golf Centre to promote next month's mayor's charity golf day.
Teams will compete in the annual competition on Friday, June 3, to raise money for St Teresa's Hospice and Darlington and District Talking Newspaper.
Coun Vasey said: "The annual golf day makes a fantastic contribution to themayor's charities every year, and everyone has such a great time.
"This year, I would be delighted if more ladies could come along and show themen how it's done, which will also benefit local charities."
The golf day includes brunch on arrival, refreshments during the day and a two-course hot meal and presentation at the 19th hole after the competition.
There are prizes for the overall winners, the two longest drives, two drives nearest the pin, plus a hamper as a raffle prize.
There is no main sponsor this year, but other sponsors include Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd, The Northern Echo, Justthink, Sibcas, Hayton & Lamb, Capita Symonds, Star Radio and Simply Thank You.
Tee-offtmes are: 11.30am to noon, noon to 12.30pm, 12.30pm to 1pm and 1pm to 1.30pm. To enter, complete apply for an entry form by calling 01325-348885.
