Darlington'S new mayor will be sworn in at the first council meeting of the new municipal year.
Councillor Lee Vasey will become the latest mayor in Darlington after she was reelected at this month's council elections.
She will be formally sworn in at Darlington Borough Council's annual meeting tonight, at 6pm, in the town hall.
Fourteen new councillors wil be attending what is their first meeting after winning seats at thismonth's elections.
They are: Labour's Bob Carson, Paul Harman, Linda Hughes, Bev Hutchinson, Marjory Knowles, Martin Landers, Sue Richmond, Chris Taylor and Malcolm Wright, Conservatives Paul Crudass, Bob Donoghue and Richard Grundy, and Liberal Democrats Joe Kelley and Alan MacNab.
Additionally, Jan Taylor, who last served as councillor in 1995, and the mayor's husband, John Vasey, who lost the 2007 election, will return to the chamber.
