WORK on a popular bridleway and country walk is about to begin.
On February 7, contractors will start improving Salters Lane bridleway in the Harrowgate Hill area of Darlington.
It is hoped that the improvements will lead to more people from the town using it to enjoy the countryside.
Gill Cartwright, councillor for the Harrowgate Hill ward, said: “This is the path at the bottom of Glebe Road that provides access to some fantastic country walks from our ward.
“You can access Skerningham woods and Ketton countryside from this track and it is beautiful in the summer. It is well used by walkers and dog walkers alike. The news that it is to be improved is very much welcomed.”
The work is expected to take about three weeks and will include laying hedges along the walk, laying a track with drainage and installing new gates.
