STUDENTS have shown their strength, skill and endurance by winning the chance to go to a regional rowing competition.
Darlington College hosted the indoor rowing event. Organised by Darlington School Sports Partnership and supported by Darlington Sports Development Team, the event attracted teams from the college and the town's secondary schools.
The fastest of the 60 rowers now have the chance to race in a Tees Valley-wide event which will be attended by national rowing talent spotters and a regional heat on February 8 at the University of Teesside.
College students had to complete 2,000m on the rowing machines in the fastest time. Schoolchildren had to row as far as they could in an allocated time.
Middlesbrough and Darlington School Sports Partnership competition manager Joanne Emerson said: "Rowing is one of a range of sports being promoted in the town to develop the next generations of sports talent."
